Virgin Media internet, TV and the company’s website has crashed leaving thousands of customers cut off.

Realtime outage tracker Downdetector reported upwards of 2,000 complaints from the telecom giant’s customers as of this afternoon.

London, Bournemouth and Portsmouth seem to be bearing the brunt of the issue with the majority of the complaints coming from there.

Virgin Media said via Twitter that they are 'aware of the issue and we are making sure that we are on top of this' but did not give a reason as to why the outage occurred in the first place. The company's website said they are 'making some essential changes'

A message appearing on their website stated that they are ‘making some essential changes’. 

The outage coincided with the Six Nations rugby match between England and Ireland, causing further anger.

‘Tried calling the automated number for any issues, no TV or broadband issues apparently. 

‘But there are many others like me with no signal!’
