Hasidic Jewish man is stabbed ‘in hate crime’ in North London

Police swoop on London street as Hasidic Jew in his 50s is victim of ‘hate crime’ stabbing before builders wrestle knife suspect to the floor

An orthodox Jew has reportedly been stabbed in a suspected hate crime in North East London.

Witnesses said the man was knifed on Stoke Newington High Street, Hackney, before builders tackled the assailant to the floor.

A friend of the victim who was at the scene shortly after the attacker described seeing blade wounds to his skull.

The friend told MailOnline the victim, who is in his 50s and lives in Stamford Hill, was standing outside the bank when he was set upon. 

The victim was able to talk at the scene and is believed to be in a stable condition in hospital.

Dozens of emergency service vehicles, as well as Hatzola, the Jewish ambulance service, scrambled to the scene and a police cordon remains.
