A group of Travellers have pitched up in the leafy Surrey village of Cobham despite government warnings about large public gatherings.

Police were called to the Tilt, a park just around the corner from Chelsea’s football training ground.

Locals have complained the Travellers were not only flouting social distancing rules but wasting police resources during this period of national emergency.

Councillor Oliver Chappell told MailOnline: ‘It’s such a shame to see when police resources are already stretched.’

Over the Bank Holiday weekend, a number of Britons headed to the parks and beaches, further risking the spread of the deadly virus.

People are only meant to be venturing outside or travelling when essential, for shopping, exercise or work.
