Young couple raffle off £750,000 two-bedroom Victorian townhouse in London for just £2 a ticket

A young couple is raffling off their £750,000 two-bedroom London property for just £2 a ticket as they look for a family home after welcoming their first child.

The beautifully renovated Victorian townhouse located in trendy Denmark Hill is owned by Lucy Mieville, a 35-year-old nutritionist who designed the stunning interiors.

Lucy and husband James, 36, decided they wanted a home with more space than their 1,023 sq ft property following the recent birth of their baby daughter.

Concerned about the capital’s under-performing property market during the pandemic, they decided to raffle it instead.

They hope to sell 650,000 tickets, with the house awarded to one lucky winner mortgage-free. All fees and stamp duty will also be covered as part of the prize.

Lucy told FEMAIL: ‘Following the birth of our beautiful daughter we realised we needed more bedrooms as we hope to have more children over the next few years.

‘We love the area sandwiched between Brixton and Camberwell so decided to buy in 2015, and I’ve loved putting my heart and soul into designing the interiors and creating the home of my dreams.

‘Now though, we want our family to grow and so need to sell, but given events over the past few months we are worried that we might not be able to find a buyer.

‘A number of people are raffling their homes, so we thought we’d give it a go.

‘And that we can do this while also supporting two incredible charities also played a big part in our decision to raffle our home.

‘We hope the winner loves the house just as much as we do and gets to enjoy Christmas there as we have so many times.’

The competition is being run by Raffle House, which earlier this month awarded a £500,000 two-bed apartment in south east London to 27-year old Niomi Boontam, from Bournemouth.

The £2 tickets for the competition can be purchased from the Raffle House website where entrants have the option of buying in bulk. In addition, 2.5 per cent of ticket sales will be given to homelessness charities Centrepoint and Housing for Women, with Raffle House having already raised around £30,000 from previous competitions.

Raffle House also awards £1,000 to one lucky player every week between now and when the competition closes on 30 November 2020.

Benno Spencer, Raffle House CEO, said: ‘Lucy has done a great job of renovating the property so it’s no wonder we have already seen a large number of our existing customers purchase tickets.

‘It is not only a tough time to sell a house in London but also to buy one with the economy sliding and people facing the possibility of pay cuts or worse, losing their jobs.

‘Raffle House was founded on the premise of helping as many people get onto the property ladder as possible and we look forward to handing over the keys to this stunning home to our next winner.’
