A UK care home provider is recruiting 3,000 staff to help its frontline teams cope with the pressures of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Four Seasons Health Care Group announced the recruitment drive earlier this week after anticipating staff shortages could occur as a result of the outbreak.

The independent provider, which has over 180 homes in the UK and cares for more than 10,000 elderly residents, is looking for people to fill caring and non-caring posts, such as preparing food or housekeeping.

The organisation said that it would also be offering flexible contracts which will allow successful applicants to return to their previous roles when they are able to.

No care sector experience is necessary and the company is hoping to employ workers who have ‘absolutely transferable’ skills in the hard-hit hospitality and airline industries.

Recruits will undergo DBS checks and participate in an accelerated training programme.

Chief executive Jeremy Richardson said: ‘We have a unique opportunity to help those people by inviting them to help us continue to deliver consistent, high quality care to our residents in a period of huge uncertainty.

‘Our residents need good care whatever the social backdrop and this is a fantastic opportunity for those, who through no fault of their own find that they have time on their hands and want to help.

‘This campaign is specifically targeting people in the hospitality and airline industry that have been hit so hard by the pandemic as we feel their skills are absolutely transferable to the care sector.

‘Working in a care home is demanding but incredibly rewarding and if you have the right attitude, and want to help the most vulnerable in society, then we want to hear from you.

‘Please get in touch with our recruitment team – the elderly in society need you.’
