Tye Sheridan ‘in talks’ to join Ben Affleck in George Clooney’s The Tender Bar for Amazon Studios
Ready Player One alum Tye Sheridan is reportedly ‘in talks’ to star in two-time Oscar winner George Clooney’s directorial effort The Tender Bar.
The 59-year-old actor-filmmaker’s Long Island-set, coming-of-age tale already scored a distribution deal with Amazon Studios – according to Collider.
The 24-year-old Texan would portray author J.R. Moehringer from his 2005 best-selling memoir, which will be adapted by Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monahan.

Clooney already signed two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Ben Affleck to play Moehringer’s Uncle Charlie after the pair collaborated on the 2012 hit Argo.
Coincidentally, Tye’s onscreen love interest from Michael Cristofer’s 2020 crime drama The Night Clerk just so happened to be Golden Globe nominee Ana de Armas.
The Cuban 30-year-old was said to have ended her year-long romance with the Berkeley-born, Cambridge-raised 48-year-old over the phone last month.
Sheridan will next portray astronaut Christopher Rebbs in Neil Burger’s sci-fi thriller Voyagers, which was supposed to be released on November 25 but was postponed due to the pandemic.

‘Since only half those theaters are open, Lionsgate has taken it off the schedule,’ Burger lamented on Instagram.
‘I’m disappointed but it was definitely the right choice. No new date yet but will let you know. I was looking forward to celebrating with my brilliant cast and crew but will have to wait.’
Joining the Independent Spirit Award winner in Voyagers were Colin Farrell, Lily-Rose Depp, Isaac Hempstead Wright, and Fionn Whitehead.
