This is the moment a skater took a tip from Mary Poppins and used an open umbrella to propel himself across a frozen lake in Canada.
Devin Jenson and his friends had been skating on Three Valley Lake near Revelstoke, British Columbia, when he decided to use the umbrella’s canopy to help him coast across the ice.
A friend filmed Mr Jenson being blown across the lake by the wind without moving his feet.

The skater exposes the broad surface of the open canopy to the wind and allows it to propel him across the ice
Footage shows him with an arm outstretched, like Disney movie children’s nanny, to catch the wind with his umbrella.
As he sails past he gives his friends a thumbs up in the comic video filmed on January 23.
Despite living in Revelstoke since 1989, Mr Jenson said he had never seen the lake freeze in this way before.
Mr Jenson said he had been playing hockey with his friends when he decided to test out the umbrella over the ice.
He told Storyful: ‘Not only was it snow-free, but it was also perfectly smooth and flat which made for an amazing afternoon.
‘My friend Bill then realised he had an umbrella in his car so we thought we would give that a try to pick up speed.
‘It turned out to be a good idea as we could really cover the lake quickly. It was very fun!’
