A mass brawl at a traveller site has resulted in a number of injuries – with one person being seriously hurt.

At least seven people were injured in the fight at the site near Chichester in West Sussex, police believe.

An air ambulance was called it after reports that a fight had broken out at 9.40am this morning.

Sussex police said one person suffered a serious head injury and six more had minor injuries.

A spokesman said they were called to an altercation at Prior Leaze Lane, Hambrook, as officers attended along with ambulance crews.

An investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident is underway, police added.
