A royal welcome! Queen Sonja of Norway wows in white as she and King Harald join Queen Rania and King Abdullah II for a banquet on their first night of state visit to Jordan

Queen Sonja of Norway made a stylish appearance alongside her dapper husband King Harald, as they were welcomed to Amman at a banquet dinner tonight.

The royal couple, who were received by King Abdullah II, Queen Rania and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, are currently undertaking a two-day state visit to Jordan.

Mother-of-two Sonja, 82, was a vision in white as she stepped out in an ankle grazing dress, coordinated with a lace embellished shawl.

Meanwhile Queen Rania, 49, looked elegant in a bold copper and electric blue satin ensemble for the occasion.

The Norwegian royal styled her hair in loose waves, completing the look with a rouge lipstick and emerald jewels. 

Meanwhile, Queen Rania was equally glamorous as she stunned in a floor-length blue skirt, paired with a bronze silk blouse.

The royals seemed delighted to be spending time with each other and were seen posing for photographs together at the monumental occasion.

Queen Sonja and King Harald began their two day state visit earlier today with a ceremony outside the Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman.

They were received by the highly polished King Abdullah II, Crown Prince Hussein and effortlessly stylish Queen Rainia. 

The state visit will see the royals discuss business cooperation, inter-religious dialogue and culture. 

In 2019, the Norwegian and Jordanian royals celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations and 25 years since the Norwegian embassy in Jordan was established.

Queen Sonja and King Harald have been married since 29 August 1968 when they exchanged vows in Oslo Cathedral.

They soon became parents to Crown Prince Haakon and Princess Märtha Louise of Norway. 

King Harald succeeded his father as king of Norway on 17th January 1991. 

Meanwhile Glamorous Rania, née Al Yassin, was born to a notable Jordanian family of Palestinian descent and attended school in Kuwait before studying for a business degree in Cairo, Egypt.

The bilingual beauty, who also speaks French, met her future husband at a dinner party hosted by a mutual friend in 1993 and were married that year.

The royal couple are parents to Crown Prince Hussein, 24, Princess Iman, 22, Princess Salma, 18, and Prince Hashem, 14.
