Naomie Harris voices week two of M&S festive food campaign

Marks & Spencer has released the second of nine new Christmas food adverts – each featuring voiceovers from a well-loved actors, who will bring a selection of festive feasts to life.

The new ad, released today sees London-born Oscar-nominee Naomie Harris bring two of the star products from this year’s festive M&S Food range to life, including the  M&S Light Globe Gin Liqueur and Triple Chocolate Panettone.  

Each famous face – which will also include Dame Julie Walters, Eddie Redmayne, Dame Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy – has chosen UK charities close to their hearts to which M&S Food will donate £900,000 on their behalf – £100,000 for each actor – while also contributing on behalf of M&S colleagues.

In the ad, the James Bond star gushes over the Triple Chocolate Panettone – which is made from dark chocolate, chocolate sauce and white chocolate chips.

She also lusts over the ‘gorgeous’ M&S Light Globe Gin Liqueur adding the famous line ‘these are not just gifts, these are M&S Christmas gifts’.

On behalf of Naomie, the upmarket grocer made a donation split between her chosen charities, African Gifted Foundation and Intermission Youth.

In a year when charity funding has declined almost 25 per cent, M&S Food is donating £2million to charitable causes.

The first of the nine Christmas ads, released last week, was voiced by Olivia Colman, who also gushes over the M&S Light Globe Gin Liqueur, Triple Chocolate Panettone, Our Best Ever Smoked Salmon and Collection Mini Beef and Porcini Yorkshires.

And on her behalf M&S Food will split £100,000 between three UK charities: Tender, Back Up Trust and Anthony Nolan.

At the start of the first advert, the Bafta award-winner can be heard saying: ‘Cor, what a year! Let’s try to make Christmas a little brighter, shall we?’

For the campaign, M&S Food is shining a light on a number of important charities, partnering with nine world-famous actors who have added their unmistakable voices. 

Speaking about the ad, Naomie Harris said:  ‘I am delighted to work with M&S Food, lending my voice to a campaign which supports charities at a time when they need it the most. Both African Gifted Foundation and Intermission Youth are close to my heart and do incredible work with young people.’

Tom Ilube CBE, Chair, African Gifted Foundation, added: ‘We are immensely grateful to Naomie Harris and M&S for this generous donation to support Africa’s leading science and math (STEM) school for exceptionally gifted young women.’

Sue Radford, Executive Director, Intermission Youth, says: ‘We are totally thrilled that M&S Food is supporting charities this Christmas. In these challenging times, this gift will enable us to continue supporting young people through drama and film.’ 

Other celebrities who will provide a voiceover include: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jeremy Irons, and Gillian Anderson. 

Each week from now until New Year, customers can listen out for Tom Hardy bringing Brussels sprouts to life, Dame Helen Mirren extolling the virtues of rosé prosecco, and Chiwetel Ejiofor making mouths water over moreish Plant Kitchen Chocolate Torte.
