Mother says she and her two young children are lucky to be alive after BRICK was thrown from bridge that smashed through her car sunroof while she was driving at 60mph

A mother driving with her two young children says they are lucky to be alive after an attacker on a 30-foot bridge hurled a brick at her car that was travelling at 60mph.
Lynnsay Smith, 31, of Gwennap, Cornwall, was driving her two children – Ralph, three, and seven-month-old Darcie – to a Christmas event when a brick punched a hole through her sunroof.
The attacker launched the brick at her car from Old Farmers Bridge on the A30.
It is not know whether the brick-thrower was a man, woman or child but Ms Smith said: ‘I only caught sight of one lad on a bike – it could have been a few. Is it some sort of sick game they’re playing?
‘It could have gone through my windscreen and I could have lost control of the car, killing my children.’

The attack left her son terrified. She said: ‘It makes me sad thinking about Ralph’s reaction – he was screeching.
‘He was like, ”Mummy I’m going to cry going to bed”.
‘I was screeching too. I don’t know how my little boy stayed so calm and brave because I was a mess.
‘The road was manic, I had my hazards on and was trying to slow down.’

Trembling with shock, Ms Smith pulled off into the Plume of Feathers pub car park at Scorrier.
She said: ‘I was clutching hold of my kids, I literally won the lottery. It could have been ten times worse.
‘I need to thank the guy in the Plume of Feathers – he came out and calmed me down and brought the kids into the pub.
‘There was a hail storm so I had to put the pram cover over the hole in the roof.’
A Devon and Cornwall police officer said: ‘It’s miraculous that the mum kept her composure and remained in control – the car could easily have crashed and she and her little ones could all have been killed’
Ms Smith has been told that the sun roof is not covered by insurance, so she will have to pay around £1,000 for repairs.
But she said: ‘The roof repair is just cash – that can be earned again.
‘We’re just lucky to be alive.
‘But no one wants to have to pay that amount just before Christmas especially after a year like this.
‘I just want to warn people that this situation happened and to be wary driving under those bridges over the A30. Hopefully someone may have some dashcam footage.’
A Devon and Cornwall police officer said: ‘It’s miraculous that the mum kept her composure and remained in control – the car could easily have crashed and she and her little ones could all have been killed.
‘If the car had smashed into other traffic, lots more innocent people could have been killed or seriously injured too.’
‘The severity of these actions cannot be over-emphasised. They could have resulted in serious injury or the driver losing control of the vehicle.
‘We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this offence or saw anyone on the bridge at the time.’
