A terrified Amazon delivery driver was forced to leap onto the bonnet of a customer’s car as they tried to run away from a chihuahua in this hilarious clip.

Footage recorded on a video doorbell on May 29 shows the delivery driver walk down a driveway in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, before an angry dog begins barking at him.

He quickly leaps backwards onto the bonnet of a white Ford Fiesta on the driveway in a panic to try and avoid the 5lb chihuahua, Poppy.

Mother-of-two Sarah Giles, 48, comes out of her house after hearing the commotion to find the driver perching on her car.

The driver apologises to accounts worker Sarah who tells him it’s safe to get off the car.

He then jogs back to his van with the miniature dog still yapping from the direction of the house.

Sarah Giles said: ‘It was so funny. The man must have heard Poppy bark and thought she was a mountain lion.

‘She hates the postman with a vengeance. We got married in Las Vegas and my marriage certificate has teeth marks in it from Poppy.

‘You look at her and it’s like butter wouldn’t melt. They’re classed as teacup Chihuahuas.

‘I didn’t see half of what happened until we played the video back and saw he was practically on my roof.’

Sarah and her husband Steve, 57, had been in their kitchen waiting on the delivery of a computer cable when their dog Poppy had started barking at the delivery driver.

She only reached the door after the driver was already on the bonnet of her car.

‘It wasn’t until he went and I played back the clip that I realised he climbed up my car.

‘I didn’t see any of this at first. I just stuck my head out and said thank you.

‘Right at the very end of the video even he is laughing.’

Sarah says that Poppy never even left her house which made the panicked reaction from the driver even funnier.

On closer inspection Sarah found a trainer tread mark had been left on her car but she said she wouldn’t be following up with Amazon because the sight of the driver cowering on her bonnet was payment enough.

‘I checked the car and there was a trainer tread mark but there’s no dent. The trainer mark came off.

‘Poppy must have thought he was an intruder.

‘My husband suggested I got in touch with Amazon to mention the car but I thought “let’s just leave it. The comedy value outweighs any kind of damage”.’

The video footage has since been shared on Facebook and was shared more than 11,500 times.
