This is the moment a quad bike rider was seriously injured in a sickening collision with a car. 

The rider, who appeared to be speeding and not wearing a helmet, ploughed into a motorist as they pulled out of a side street in Oldham, Greater Manchester. 

Dramatic footage shows the bike rider smash into the white Audi before being catapulted on to the road after he gave his machine full throttle going up a hill.

Emergency services were called to the incident, which occurred at around 3.15pm on Monday. The quad bike rider was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. 

Police said his injuries were serious but are not thought to be life-threatening.

Most quad bikes cannot be used on the road as they do not satisfy road safety standards. Quad bikes must be approved, registered, taxed and have an MOT to be used on the road.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation into the collision which happened as the quad bike rode down Middleton Road and the car pulled out of Neville Street. 

A GMP spokesman said: ‘The male driver of the quad bike has been taken to hospital with a number of serious injuries – not life threatening. Investigations continue.’
