Moment vicious street brawl breaks out before police officer is attacked and left in hospital with facial injuries as he tried to break up fight

  • This is the moment that led a police officer to be rushed to hospital after they tried to break up a violent brawl.

    Three people were arrested following the vicious altercation, including one who was reportedly carrying a knife.  

    In footage of the incident a group of people can be seen gathering along Bancroft Road, in London’s Tower Hamlets at around 6.50 pm on Tuesday. 

    The officer is seen to confront the group, with at least five people seen on camera in the clip, filmed by a witness.  

    Then more people pile into the brawl

    A thug shoves another man and throws a punch in a brutal attack before others pile onto the camera and join the brawl.

    The police were later called to break up the fight on 17 November.

    As officers tried to disperse the crowd, one of them was attacked by one of the men.

    The officer suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital. The full extent of his injuries is not known though they are ‘not life-threatening’.

    Three of the men at the scene were arrested on suspicion of having reportedly assaulted an emergency worker and for possession of a bladed item.

    Police say an officer was injured in the altercation and had to be rushed to hospital to get treatment for eye injuries

    ‘Police were called at approximately 6.50 pm on Tuesday, November 17 to reports of a number of people gathered on Bancroft Road,’ a spokesperson from Met Police said in a statement.

    ‘Officers attended, and upon arrival, witnessed a fight. As they attempted to intervene, one officer was assaulted.

    ‘He was taken to an East London hospital for treatment to facial injuries.

    ‘His injuries are not life-threatening.’
