He can be seen in the pool facing straight ahead, but his torso and legs are turned towards the camera.

Sarah walks around the edge of the pool saying: ‘They’re not uniting,’ as the two parts of Micah’s body still don’t connect.

Eventually when the pair are standing facing each other, the man’s head appears to be reunited with his torso.

The office assistant from Brooklyn, New York was celebrating his honeymoon when his wife captured the hilarious moment.

He said: ‘My wife saw my head was completely separate from my body and thought it was hilarious, so then she started filming and I started performing.’

It's only when wife Sarah stands to face her husband that  his head and body reconnect

Micah’s head and torso still appears disconnected until wife Sarah faces him and the two join up again in the pool

The bizarre optical illusion was created by a scientific incident called refraction, the bending of light, due to the swimming pool’s curves.

Micah can’t believe the reaction his video has had from the public.

He said: ‘When I saw it for the first time, I couldn’t believe how I looked but I had no idea people were going to respond as much as they have.

‘Most people are confused and the other half are people educating others about the science behind refraction.’
