Pedal power! Melissa McCarthy and mother Sandy get some fresh air on adult tricycles as she takes a break from quarantining in LA

She’s been keeping her legion of fans entertained by documenting her life at home under quarantine with a series of hilarious Instagram posts.

But on Monday, movie star Melissa McCarthy, 49, enjoyed some time outside with her mother Sandy McCarthy, 77, as the pair rode around their Los Angeles neighborhood on adult tricycle bikes.

Having grown up in Illinois farmland, Melissa and her mom are certainly used to enjoying pleasures of the simple life, and were pictured taking safety measures with face masks as they took their bikes for a spin.

Melissa previously spoke about life with her mother to AARP Magazine, telling funny stories about how Sandy would often take in a whole litter of abandoned kittens on their land.

‘On a farm it’s great,’ Melissa told the publication. ‘They live outside. You don’t have mice. And when someone comes to your house for the first time, 25 to 30 cats run toward the car like in a horror movie.’

Meanwhile, Melissa recently admitted to PEOPLE magazine that aside from her huge success as an actress, her biggest pride and joy is being a mom to her two daughters, Vivian, 12, and Georgette, 10.

The Spy actress revealed that ‘unexplainable character quirks’ are what make an individual special, and that both of her girls really know who they are.

Melissa admitted that life would be ‘boring’ if everyone looked and acted in similar manners.

‘How boring would it be if we were all the same? We’re drawn to each other because of all our weird, unexplainable character quirks,’ she said. ‘Life is short. Just be yourself!’

The Little Big Shots host raises her two girls in Los Angeles with actor husband Ben Falcone, 46.

‘My oldest has a really good head on her shoulders, but kids that age are always thinking, “Does someone think I look silly?” I tell them it’s all silly and we’re all idiots,’ she said.

Keeping her kids grounded is important as both of their parents thrive in a unique industry as she admitted that ‘kindness is really powerful.’

‘The second you embrace that and have real friends, you realize that’s the fun part,’ she said. ‘Who is the dumbest and the goofiest? Those are the friends you’ll have all your life.’

Still, she remains proud of her girls for staying true to who they are as they navigate to find their places in the world.

‘At that age, I was eating dirt and running around a farm like a dingbat, but they have a much bigger view of the world,’ she said.

‘I love to see my two girls just truly say, “I know who I am and I know what I like and what I don’t like.” And they’re kind, so to have all of that come together is lovely.’
