Melania Trump ‘just wants to go home’

Melania Trump just ‘wants to go home’ even as President Donald Trump doubles down on his demand the election result be over turned so he can stay in the White House.

The first lady is wrapping up her life in Washington D.C. – taking an inventory of the Trump furniture and art in the White House, asking what kind of staff and budget she gets after January 20th, and thinking about her legacy.

‘She just wants to go home,’ a source close to Melania told CNN.

Asked how the first lady feels about rumors the president might announce a 2024 bid, the source said: ‘That might not go over well.’

Melania Trump just ‘wants to go home’ and is preparing for life after the White House

As Melania Trump looks past inauguration day to life back in the civilian world, President Trump continues his battle to stay in the White House.

‘RIGGED ELECTION!,’ he tweeted on Wednesday.

‘If somebody cheated in the Election, which the Democrats did, why wouldn’t the Election be immediately overturned? How can a Country be run like this?,’ he added.

President Trump also said on Wednesday his administration will be joining a Hail Mary effort by the Republican attorney general in Texas to overturn the election in four battleground states carried by Joe Biden.

There also have been reports he’ll announce a 2024 presidential run on the same day Biden takes the oath of office.

Melania Trump, meanwhile, has taken a different approach.

She rarely speaks publicly about the election and appears focused on her final duties as first lady.

Melania Trump was a reluctant campaigner in both the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. Like most first ladies, she does relish the glad-handing and campaigning that goes with a life in politics.

She has brought on Marcia Lee Kelly as a special government employee to help with her transition out of the East Wing.

She asked Kelly to inquire of West Wing and Office of Management and Budget staff whether there were taxpayer funds allocated to former first ladies, CNN reported.

There are not tax-payer funds for former first ladies, who are not paid for their position but do have tax-payer funded offices in the White House.

She may continue her Be Best initiative with its three pillars of kindness, cyber bullying and opioid abuse but her post-White House agenda has not fully emerged.

There have been reports Melania Trump may write a book but instead of a personal memoir she may veer toward a coffee-table book about hospitality or design.

Melania Trump is completing her time in the White House with the inauguration of the new president 42 days away.

She joined the Marines for their annual Toys for Tots event on Tuesday. She’s unveiled her final round of Christmas decorations – the theme was ‘America the Beautiful.’

And, on Monday, she announced the completion of the new White House tennis pavilion – a project she began in 2018 and that will be part of her White House legacy.

The completion comes as President-elect Joe Biden prepares to take over the White House on January 20th.

And it follows Melania Trump’s other major restoration project: a refurbishment of the White House Rose Garden.

Now she’s selecting the official Trump china service to add to the White House collection.

Every administration since that of President James Monroe has left a set of china for future first families to use. The first lady traditionally picks the colors and pattern of the pieces.

She’s also looking ahead to her life in Florida, where she, her husband and son Barron will live at Mar-a-Lago after the Trumps switched their official residence from New York to Florida.

Barron will be moved to a school in Florida and not finish out the year at his Maryland location, CNN reported.

The first lady is also sorting through the Trump family’s personal items, deciding what will be sent to the penthouse in Trump Tower in New York, what will go to Mar-a-Lago, and what goes in storage.

Repair work is being done on the Trump’s private quarters in Mar-a-Lago to prepare for it to become the Trumps’ permanent home.
