A man has been spotted taking social distancing during lockdown to the extreme by walking his dog from his car.

The motorist was seen holding his dog on a lead out of the window whilst driving the open-top convertible around residential roads in Blackpool, Lancashire yesterday.

The footage shows the dog running down the middle of the road next to the car as the man drives through the streets.

The video was filmed by a motorist in a car behind.  

A resident, who did not want to be named, said: ‘I couldn’t believe it, I’ve never seen anything like this before.’

It comes as the government have said people can leave their house during lockdown for one form of exercise a day, including walking their dog. 

The measures are part of an attempt to stop the coronavirus from overwhelming the NHS.  

More than 11,000 people in the UK have been diagnosed with the virus, with 578 people losing their lives so far.
