But now a home cook has revealed a clever hack for easily separating eggs, by rubbing your fingers on brown bread and lifting the yolk up.
Taking to TikTok to show off the simple technique, British user @rightguysaldireviews shared the handy trick with his followers, showing how the yolk easily separates from the white.
Because fingers are blunt and soft, there’s nothing to snag the yolk on to risk it breaking, and it’s believed that rubbing the bread ensures that hands are completely dry before picking up the egg.

The clip begins with two eggs in a bowl as he explains: ‘Right guys, got the free range eggs out. Just going to show you a little hack of how to separate your whites from your yolks.’
He then rubs his fingers on a piece of brown bread and says: ‘What you want to do is rub your fingers like that on a piece of brown bread and then go in and grab your egg yolk.’
