Man, 22, is charged with raping a woman, in her 30s, inside a hospital in Essex

  • Nicholas Bell was arrested after a woman was allegedly attacked on Sunday 
  • Police said the incident happened inside the Princess Alexandra Hospital 
  • Woman is currently receiving support from specialist officers at Essex Police 

A 22-year-old man has been charged with raping a woman at a hospital in Essex.

Nicholas Bell was arrested after it was reported that a woman in her 30s had been assaulted at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow on Sunday.

Essex Police said the alleged incident happened inside the hospital building.

The accused, who is from Little Brays in Harlow, was due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today.

The woman is being supported by specialist officers, police said.

Police have asked for anyone with information about the alleged incident to contact the adult sexual abuse investigation team in Harlow on 101 or to report details online at www.essex.police.uk

 Last week the same hospital had reported that a 19-year-old had died after falling ill with the coronavirus.

An NHS midwife had also died at the hospital after becoming infected with Covid-19.
