London sees EIGHTH murder in two weeks

A young man has been shot dead in north London this morning in yet another murder to hit the Capital’s streets in recent days.

Police found the victim, thought to be in his 20s, in Harlesden, Brent at 3am this morning.

They gave him first aid until the arrival of the London Ambulance Service but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the latest in a string of murders across the Capital in the wake of lockdown restrictions being eased, with one expert warning there was, ‘a crimewave coming, a tsunami on the way.’

No arrests have been made yet and police say enquiries are ongoing.

This comes after a murder investigation was launched yesterday after a man was stabbed in west London.

The victim was found injured in Elmfield Way, Maida Vale, at around 12.30am on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police officers gave him first aid and land and air ambulance crews were called, but he died in hospital shortly after 1am.

Last week alone there were four fatal attacks – after more coronavirus restrictions were lifted by the Government on the first Saturday of the month.

By Friday evening, London had been rocked by three stabbings in the space of ten hours.

Separate attacks last Friday saw a young man killed in Poplar, a police officer knifed in Hendon and another man left fighting for his life after an assault in Haringey.

After another victim, named as 18-year-old Donnell Rhule, was also stabbed to death in Dulwich last Wednesday (July 8).

On Saturday, a Mixed Martial Arts fighter nicknamed The Nightmare was stabbed to death at his 30th birthday party.

Police named Jahreau Shepherd, 30, as the man found dead in Kennington, south London, just after 10pm on Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Shepherd, also known as Jay, was with family and friends at a barbecue on the nearby Black Prince Estate when he was attacked not long after his mother left celebrations.

The welterweight champion had a 6-2 win record in professional Mixed Martial Arts, with five wins by knockout, according to his online profile.

His brother, Rico Biggs, also took to the social media platform to pay tribute to the star fighter who had started training again last week after the lifting of coronavirus restrictions.

Police launched a murder investigation after the killing and said a post-mortem will be held at a later date.

Shortly after Mr Shepherd’s death, a 26-year-old man arrived at hospital suffering stab injuries believed to have been sustained at the same party.
