K-Pop fans take over White Lives Matter hashtag

‘Enjoy my fancam!’ K-Pop fans take over White Lives Matter hashtag on Twitter to drown out racist posts following death of George Floyd

Fans of Korean pop music have united on social media to drown out racist posts following the death of George Floyd in the United States.

On Thursday, Twitter was flooded with pictures and videos of K-pop artists including Jimin and August D alongside the hashtag #whitelivesmatter.

The fandom’s goal is to clog up the feed, which has been used for white supremacist messages and criticism, following the protests and riots that have erupted in the U.S.

Protesters took to the streets demanding reform after what many consider another senseless death and example of police brutality.

Floyd had been accused of using a counterfeit $20 bill at a deli.
