H&M’s collaboration with Kate Middleton’s approved dress brand The Vampire’s Wife has sold out in just 24 hours as shoppers compared buying pieces from the line with ‘getting a Glastonbury ticket’.  

The British label, which was launched by former model Suzie Cave in 2014, is famed for pretty prairie dresses infused with a dose of gothic glam, which are frequently spotted on red carpets.

It is beloved by Kate Middleton, 38, and Princess Beatrice, 32, and has developed a cult following over the last six years, with celebrity fans including Alexa Chung,  Sienna Miller, Cate Blanchett and Keira Knightley. 

The limited edition line, which went on sale yesterday, sold out in just 24 hours, with desperate shoppers taking to Twitter to express their angst over buying the pieces.

Others were left aghast after the pieces quickly appeared on resale sites such as eBay for more than four times their original price.

One Twitter user commented: ‘Trying to get a Vampire’s Wife dress is on pair with getting a Glaso ticket.’

Meanwhile another wrote: ‘The Vampire’s Wife thing sounded like a bit of a bun fight.’ 

The limited edition line promised to be ‘progressive in both attitude and fabrication’, with whimsical  dresses and gothic capes amoung the pieces for sale from just £9.99. 

The Vampire’s Wife x H&M collection was also made from sustainably sourced materials, utilizing recycled nylon and polyester.

The collection was turned around turning the Covid-19 pandemic and will be available for fashion fans to buy shortly before Halloween.

According to H&M the collection was ‘bold and feminine’, featuring a mix of gothic lace dresses with chic velvet and silvery capes.

Statement pieces included the lace mystique mini dress with signature shoulders, the velvety mini dress with sensual pussy-bow and the romantic silvery lace cape.

Accessorizes were whimsical with charm necklaces, bracelets and ear cuffs featuring eye, cloud and vampire teeth iconography.

Meanwhile classic black dominated the collection for an invitingly mysterious feel, with shimmery black lace, opulent button cuffs and rich velvet textures adding to the luxurious tone. 

While prices ordinarily start at £350 for dresses, the H&M line offered fashionistas a chance to buy pieces for a fraction of that. 

Dresses ranged from an affordable £19.99 to £49.99, while fashion fans could also pick up accessories from the brand for just £9.99.  

Shoppers dashed to get their hands on the collection, with many setting their alarms early in order to get up to buy their favourite pieces. 

Fiercely desired items were quickly uploaded to eBay for hugely elevated prices, with the £25 cape for sale on the site for £200 while the £50 maxi-dress is being resold for £150

The line sold out shortly after it was released, with some savvy shoppers immediately putting the dresses on eBay to try to turn a profit. 

While the floor length maxi dress from the collaboration cost just £50 online, it is now being sold for £150 on eBay, while the silvery cape has also inflated in value from £25 to £100.  

Shoppers who missed on the collection were left gutted, with one commenting: ‘Love for half my H&M x Vampire’s Wife purchase to disappear from my basket when I went to pay, really filled the getting up early for gig tickets and being disappointed hole in my life.’

‘Of course all The Vampire’s Wife H&M collection has sold out on the first day,’ one added.

‘Am I going to send my husband to H&M to find me the Vampire’s Wife cape and fingerless lace gloves?’ one commented, ‘Oh you bet your sweet a** I am. Cause I need it.’  

The brand takes its name from an unfinished novel by Suzie’s husband Nick Caves, and the clothes provide a wardrobe befitting such a title.  

The brand is much beloved by royals, with the Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Beatrice stepping out in the label over the last few years.

The ensemble closely resembled the green dress by the same designer that Princess Beatrice wore to Ellie Goulding’s wedding last September.

Beatrice wore a £1,695 ‘The Veneration’ tiered silk-blend lamé dress by The Vampire’s Wife to the singer’s nuptials at York Minster Cathedral last year. 

News of the sell-out collaboration was announced days after it emerged H&M will shut 250 stores worldwide amid the  Covid-19 bloodbath on the high street.

The clothing retailer is not yet disclosing details on the number of job losses or store closures in the UK that are expected to take place as a result of the plan.
