Frank Lampard’s ex says Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney’s £1M lawsuit should be used for NHS

Frank Lampard’s ex-fianceé Elen Rivas has urged Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney to end their ‘shocking’ legal battle.

The WAG, 38, is preparing to take Coleen, 34, to the High Court for defamation in a £1 million lawsuit after she publicly accused Rebekah’s Instagram account of leaking stories about her late last year.

Amid the drama, former model Elen, 45, said she hopes her friends can ‘sort out’ their issues, detailing in a new interview: ‘Also, all the money they are going to spend in court could easily go to the NHS or key workers.’

The lifestyle organiser, who shares daughters Luna, 15, and 13-year-old Isla with former footballer Frank, 42, explained how she doesn’t ‘want to take sides’ and believes the women should ‘just forget about it and move on’ if they can’t settle their differences.

She told The Sun on Sunday: ‘Half a million pounds on lawyers seems such a waste when they could just sit down and talk. I hope they sort it out between them. But if they can’t they should just forget about it and move on.

‘I can’t comment on who is right and who is wrong. It is a nightmare for them both and has been a big shock for everyone. It’s such a shame they are going to court because the wives and girlfriends that follow the England football team have always been like one big, happy family.’

Elen, who supported her ex alongside Wayne’s wife Coleen at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, insisted she maintains relationships with the media personalities.

She detailed: ‘This would never have happened in my day. Coleen is still a friend and if I saw her tomorrow we would go for a drink, for sure. I met Rebekah Vardy at a football game and she is a friend too.’

The businesswoman claimed she and her fellow former WAGS, including the likes of Cheryl and Victoria Beckham, were ‘united’ and ‘wouldn’t gossip’ when their partners hit the pitch.

The Spanish beauty was in a six-year romance with the sportsman until February 2008, with Frank later marrying broadcaster Christine, 41, in December 2015, and the couple welcomed their daughter Patricia in September 2018.

A decade on from their split, Elen said she wishes Frank ‘all the best’ as they continue to co-parent their two children.

Her discussion comes amid claims Coleen plans to spend millions in a bid to win her legal battle with Rebekah – who is the wife of England footballer Jamie Vardy, 33.

The Liverpool native is said to have a ‘blank cheque ready’ and is not be afraid to pay whatever is needed as they head to court.

She recently branded Rebekah’s decision to issue court proceedings ‘disappointing’ in a statement issued via her legal team.

Coleen’s lawyer Paul Lunt of Brabners said in a statement: ‘It is disappointing that Mrs Vardy has chosen to issue court proceedings.

‘Coleen feels that the time and money involved could be put to better use; her offer to meet face to face still stands.

‘Mrs Vardy’s decision to issue court proceedings does at least mean that Coleen’s evidence can be made public when the time is right.’
