A father was found dead on New Year’s Day at a house in Essex as police quiz three people on suspicion of murder.  

Dod Paul Fletcher, who was in his 30s, was found unresponsive inside a property in Rayleigh, Essex, shortly before 1am.

He was pronounced dead at the scene in Worcester Drive, despite the best efforts of paramedics. 

A 39-year-old local man, a 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman from Basildon have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The local woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. 

Dod’s grieving sister today posted a tribute on social media, writing: ‘RIP little bro.

‘I know we (didn’t) see eye to eye a lot of the time but you are still my little brother and I love you.

‘Wish we made peace. Love u always.’ 

Another family member told The Sun that he was ‘incredibly passionate about supporting his family and friends.

‘He never would let someone go without.’

Essex Police believe all the people involved knew each other and large police presence remains at the scene of the murder this afternoon. 

Forensic experts and an officer with a dog were pictured outside the property today following the death. 

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Major Crime Team on 101 and quote incident number 147 of January 1.
