Emmerdale’s Chas Dingle and Paddy Kirk will give fans some much needed joy this Christmas Day, as he surprises her with a festive wedding.

After finally getting their relationship back on track, Paddy vows to prove his commitment to Chas by planning a secret wedding, but in typical soap fashion things take a disastrous turn.

Fans will have to wait and see whether Chas and Paddy make it down the aisle in the soap’s first socially-distanced nuptials, as Charity Dingle plots to ruin their big day by turning up dressed for a funeral.

At last! Emmerdale’s Chas Dingle and Paddy Kirk will give fans some much needed joy this Christmas Day, as he surprises her with a festive wedding

Over the festive period, fans will see Paddy (played by Dominic Brunt) plot to surprise Chas (Lucy Pargeter) with a wedding after a difficult year for the pair.

While Paddy enlists the help of his friend Marlon (Mark Charnock), things go awry thanks to some unfortunate printing errors with the invitations, and the pair’s struggle to find a venue during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fans will be hoping the couple finally make it down the aisle, after overcoming the tragedy of losing their baby daughter Grace, and welcoming daughter Eve the following year.

Asked what would stop Chas from going through with the wedding, Lucy told MailOnline: ‘I think the only thing that would stop her, was the fact that she hasn’t had a hand in it really or that it might be a bit of the case of Don’t Tell The Bride.

‘She might turn up and it all be not to her liking, but I don’t think so, I think they’re at a good place now.

‘She went away, she was banished by Paddy to Scotland and she kind of came to her senses about the relationship and kind of had a bit of a shake where that was concerned, so I don’t think there’s any chance that she’d turn them down.’

Dominic added: ‘I think he just wants to give the best present he possibly could to her, after a few really really bad years for them after losing Gracie and the marriage being as rocky as it has been.

‘I think a sticking plaster is the right term but he definitely gets carried away with the idea.

‘It’s not going very well everything cancels on them. There’s nothing available because it’s Christmas. There’s nothing available because it’s COVID and then Marlon says ”I will help you by getting the invitations done”.

‘But they’ll all come back and he’s like ”oh my this is gonna work look at them” he realises there’s typos all over them, and instead of exchanging vows it says exchanging cows!’

As Paddy surprises Chas with the low-key nuptials, Charity (Emma Atkins) plots to spoil the day by turning up dressed for a funeral, still in the midst of a downward spiral after being dumped by her fiancée Vanessa Woodfield.

It remains to be seen whether the couple get to say ‘I do’ without a hitch, as they exchange vows in one of the soap’s first ever socially-distanced weddings.

Speaking about filming the scenes in the midst of COVID-19 restrictions, Dominic told MailOnline: ‘This is different to anything we’ve done before because we’re not allowed near each other anymore

‘No matter how seriously we take our jobs we’re merely entertaining people and it’s safety first really for me.

‘I can’t wait to get back to normal and it’s completely getting on my nerves but we’ve just got to bunker down, but yeah a return to normality would help us out massively but in the meantime we’ve just got to follow rules and get on with it really.’
