Horrifying footage shows pedestrians being run over in a high-speed car crash in Ukraine which left three people seriously injured.
Egyptian student Ali Hendy struck a man, woman and child and another person who were waiting at a crossing in Kharkiv.
Astonishingly, nobody was killed by the out-of-control Volkswagen Passat, but the woman is in a coma with serious head injuries while the nine-year-old boy broke both his legs and the man was also hospitalised.
The driver, a trainee aeronautical engineer who was already on bail for stabbing a girl in June, faces up to eight years in prison for dangerous driving.

Footage following the car accident shows the driver making offensive gestures after he was held by police.
Hendy was already on bail for ‘hooliganism’ after stabbing a girl in the chest near a metro station in June.
Checks are to be made on Hendy’s background after the horrific highway carnage which left the boy, nine-year-old Artyom, in hospital with two broken legs.
Ukrainian officials are to check the driver’s status in the country amid fears he had enrolled at the respected Kharkiv National Air Force University as part of an illegal plan to reach the West.
‘I assume that he did not study here at all,’ said deputy interior minister Anton Herashchenko.

The woman, 50, suffered serious head injuries and is in a coma in intensive care, and the man, 48, also required hospital treatment.
Herashchenko called for the government to ‘put things in order so that no one is invited to ‘study’ in Ukraine in this way’.
He called for the driver to be sent to a harsh regime penal colony.
The Ukrainian government is seeking to crack down on foreign students who are enrolled into universities and receive residency permits, but then fail to study.
Critics claim they abuse their status in Ukraine to seek illegal entry into the neighbouring European Union, sometimes with bogus qualifications.
