Taking the car out for a spin! Dashcam video shows a driver losing control of their Porsche and swerving into barriers on a California highway

This is the dramatic moment a driver was filmed losing control of their Porsche and swerving into barriers on a California highway. 

Footage shows the sports car slowly moving along the State Route 18 in Lake Arrowhead, California, adjacent to the rocky San Bernardino Mountains.

It passes a white vehicle on the sweeping bend before gradually veering in to the inside lane.

On the second turn of the highway, the Porsche becomes a faint shape as it hurtles along the almost empty road, in the dashboard clip.

Within a matter of seconds, the sports car starts to swerve off the road and turns on itself. 

It shows no sign of stopping and dramatically spins around before abruptly knocking into the barriers.

A driver, who captured the moment and was dropping his children at school, said: ‘I think he was trying to stay in front of me as he wouldn’t let me pass. 

‘We came up to a long sweeping turn and he seemed to have overcorrected and lost control of his car.’ 

No injuries were reported during the incident.

It comes just three weeks after a person was killed in a crash involving a car and semitruck on the SR 18 near Maple Valley.

Three people died and 18 were left injured after a bus rolled over an embankment on southbound Interstate 15 near State Route 76, in Fallbrook, California, on February 22. 

There were 3,304 fatal motor vehicle crashes in California in 2017, says IIHS figures.
