A dog who can count to ten and spell her own name has impressed This Morning viewers after showing off her ‘mind-blowing’ skills on the show.

Special needs teacher Charlotte, from Bradford, has been using her highly intelligent pet dog Willow to help engage her students while learning remotely during lockdown.

Appearing on the programme today, Willow was able to identify pictures of hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, as well as the words ‘This Morning’, by pointing to each of them with her paw.

Viewers were gobsmacked by the dog’s talents, with one calling Willow one of the ‘best things they’ve seen on TV’, while another joked that they wanted the animal to ‘make life decisions’ for them.

The special needs teacher explained: ‘The world of teaching has drastically changed overnight and trying to engage some children in remote learning is really difficult.

‘So I thought why not try and share more of Willow and see if she can become a little teaching assistant while I’m home?’

Charlotte continued: ‘She just is a really quick learner and made it look really easy.’

Presenter Holly, 39, explained that the sign of high intelligence for a dog is being able to pick up a word after hearing it just four times.

Charlotte explained: ‘She picks things up really quickly. I think four times for Willow is quite accurate.

‘When we got the invite yesterday to come on the show, we had a look at doing some new  words and pictures and we’ve only done it four times so this will be the test.’

Charlotte first showed off Willow’s skills on the This Morning parental app, admitting that she sometimes forgets how ‘incredible’ her dogs abilities really are.

‘I think because she does it with us, it’s almost second nature to us now’, said Charlotte.

‘We forget how actually incredible it is, that she can pick out words and letters and order her numbers and I forget that the response is really positive, because not many dogs I know can do what she does.’

After Willow successfully showed off her talents on the programme, one impressed viewer joked: ‘That’s a small person in a dog suit.’

‘That dog willow is insane. Mind. Blown’, commented a second viewer.

Another teased: I need to buy this dog to make my life decisions for me.’

A fourth wrote: ‘Willow the dog is one of the best things I have seen on TV for many a day. Great stuff.’
