Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death and woman in her 40s and teenage boy were injured in a seaside knife attack.

Police were called to reports of an assault at an address in Bournemouth, Dorset, at 2.20am on Friday.

They found a 46-year-old man had suffered severe stab wounds and he died at the scene.

A woman in her 40s and a teenage boy were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 31-year-old man was arrested by officers on suspicion of murder before being taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Andy Bell, of Dorset Police, said: We are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

‘I would like to hear from anyone who may have any information to assist my investigation.’

A cordon has been put in place while crime scene investigators examine the scene. Officers are carrying out house-to-house visits and making CCTV enquiries.
