A Chinese actress has shared gruesome pictures of her blackened nose with dead flesh after her cosmetic surgery went wrong.
The 24-year-old star, Gao Liu, said the botched operation had left her with recurring infections as well as necrosis of the nose, meaning the tissue at its tip has died.
She shared her cosmetic nightmare with her 5million followers on China’s Twitter-like Weibo on Tuesday to warn them about the potential danger of plastic surgery.

Ms Gao, a singer and actress who has starred in multiple Chinese films and TV dramas, sparked a heated discussion online after sharing the images revealing the tip of her nose has rotted away and fallen off.
In the post, she wrote that she underwent the nose job at the Xi Shi Shi Guang clinic in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou after a friend introduced her to a plastic surgeon there.
The four-hour operation involved removing cartilage from Ms Gao’s body and using it to reshape the actress’s nose.
‘I didn’t expect these four hours to be the beginning of a nightmare,’ she wrote.
Photos she posted of her face show a clear patch of blackened flesh on the tip of her nose, as well as bandages and bruising.

Gao said she hoped the surgery would improve her acting career.
But what she thought was a ‘micro-adjustment’ to graft cartilage onto the tip of her nose in late October left it infected, requiring repeated follow-up surgeries, she wrote.
Following the procedure, Ms Gao said her nose felt ‘irritated and tingly’ before it became repeatedly infected, despite she was assured by the doctor that she would be able to recover and return to work within two months.
She also suffered from nasal necrosis, meaning that the tissue at the tip of the nose has died.
Ms Gao later found out that the plastic surgery hospital was not qualified to carry out the nose surgery.

As a result, the actress ended up being hospitalised for two months. She lost 400,000 yuan (£45,200) in work and is facing an additional of two million yuan (£225,621) for breaking her employment contracts.

Ms Gao has to wait for at least a year to have a possible reconstructive surgery due to the severity of her nose injury. She is currently negotiating with the clinic to seek compensation.
Ms Gao’s viral post quickly drew sympathy from Chinese social media users who called for tightening regulation of the country’s cosmetic surgery industry.

One commenter wrote: ‘The hospital must be held responsible and severely punished! I’m so heart-broken for Gao Liu. People need to take this as a warning, cosmetic surgery has its risks!’
Another user replied: ‘You used to be so gorgeous, why do you need to go through this? A lesson learned.’
Plastic surgery is booming in China, with over 15.2million patients estimated to have gone under the knife last year, according to a report by Chinese market research firm iiMedia.
But the growing demand has led to clinics operating without certificates or hiring unqualified surgeons.
Medical disputes in the sector are rampant, and iiMedia has estimated that only 12 per cent of China’s 13,000-plus beauty clinics are compliant with laws and regulations.
Many patients are young women, influenced by high beauty standards set by celebrities and ubiquitous online influencers.
