Princess Charlene of Monaco has called for people to stay home during the coronavirus pandemic, in a video alongside Hollywood A-Listers.

Prince Albert of Monaco’s wife, 42, is one of the 18 ambassadors for road safety of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and took part in their #3500lives campaign.

She joined other ambassadors including Michael Fassbender, Patrick Dempsey and Pharrell Williams to encourage people to stay home during the COVID-19 lockdown, in order to limit the spread of the virus.

In a picture shared on Instagram by the FIA, Charlene’s monochrome portrait is signed, alongside the 17 other ambassadors.

The issue of coronavirus is very close to Charlene’s heart, after her own husband had to quarantine after contracting the disease in March.

‘We all have a role to play to help fight covid19,’ the campaign reads, ‘Together with jcdecauxglobal and our #3500LIVES road safety campaign ambassadors, we ask you to please stay home during the pandemic in order to stay safe.

‘As #3500LIVES’ road safety ambassadors, to save lives, we follow the rules on the road and now in our homes’.

It concludes: ‘Stay safe. Stay home. Stay committed.’

The FIA’s #3500LIVES campaign was created in 2017 . It takes its name from the 3,500 people dying across the world on the road each year.

Authorities said the 62-year-old ruler had been tested for the pathogen and was found positive.

His diagnosis made him the first known head of state to be infected with the virus. It came just nine days after he was pictured sitting opposite Prince Charles at a WaterAid charity event in London.

It was reported on April 1 that the prince had recovered, and was no longer isolating away from his family.

For Easter, the couple shared a video on their Instagram account wishing their people a happy Easter ‘amid these difficult and troubled times.’
