Sophy Ridge has been the host of Sky News’ Sophy Ridge on Sunday since 2017

Sophy Ridge has been the host of her own Sky News show Sophy Ridge on Sunday since 2017. 

She covered the 2015 general election as a senior political correspondent, reporting on Labour’s campaign. Her exclusives included Ed Miliband’s resignation as leader and Jeremy Corbyn’s victory in the leadership race which followed.

Ridge joined Sky News in 2011 as a political correspondent and travelled with David Cameron to Afghanistan, New York and Brazil. 

She was based in Colorado for Sky’s coverage of the US elections and was known for her round the clock broadcasting at the annual party conferences. Before moving into broadcast, Ridge was a consumer affairs correspondent at the now defunct newspaper News of the World.

Vicki Young has been BBC News’ chief political correspondent since 2014, taking up the post made free by Norman Smith’s appointment as assistant political editor. 

She has led BBC coverage into over four general elections.

In 2014 she worked as a sit-in reporter for Daily Politics and has also reported for BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5 Live. 

Before that she was a correspondent for BBC Breakfast between 2008-11. 

Her career at the BBC began when she joined the One O’Clock News as a political correspondent.

Isabell Oakeshott was the political editor of The Sunday Times and is the co-author with Lord Ashcroft of the unauthorised David Cameron biography Call Me Dave.

Last year she wrote a series of articles for the Mail on Sunday based on leaked diplomatic memos written by the UK Ambassador to the US Sir Kim Darroch, where he criticised Donald Trump. The leak led to his resignation.

Oakeshott began her career in journalism working in Scotland for the East Lothian Courier, Edinburgh Evening News, Daily Record, Sunday Mirror and the Mail, before returning to London and joining the Evening Standard as the health correspondent.

Oakeshott moved to the Sunday Times in 2006 as deputy political editor, becoming political editor in 2010, where she remained until 2014. 

Oakeshott has appeared as a panelist on the BBC’s Daily Politics and Question Time, and has been a contributor to Sky News’ Press Preview programme.

Amber de Botton has been head of politics at ITV News since 2017 and has lots of experience covering the daily news in Westminster. 

At ITV she chaired the leadership debates between Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn during the 2019 General Election.

She worked as deputy head of politics at Sky News between 2012-17 after enjoying a stint at Total Politics as political correspondent and then political editor for three years. 

Prior to that, de Botton was a parliamentary reporter for Dods Group and a press officer for Greater London Authority.

According to the Spectator, she is understood to have a good working relationship with No10.

Allega Stratton is a former ITV journalist who has been Rishi Sunak’s director of strategic communications at the Treasury since this April. 

She quit ITV News to enter politics after co-presenting Peston on Sunday with Robert Peston.

Stratton made her first appearance on ITV’s News at Ten in January 2016. 

Before that she worked at the BBC between 2012-2015 as political editor of Newsnight, replacing Michael Crick who left to become a correspondent for Channel 4.

Previously she was the Guardian’s political correspondent and presented the newspaper’s Politics Weekly podcast with Tom Clark.

Stratton has also worked as a producer for the BBC, on the foreign desk at The Times and wrote for the Independent and the New Statesman.

Rosie Bate-Williams is a Defra official and former Tory spin doctor who worked as Boris Johnson’s mayoral campaign volunteer in 2012. 

She began her career interning for MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown 2011 before working for Amnesty International. 

Bate-Williams then worked for PR company Portland for six years as an account manager before moving back into politics.
