Body is found in hunt for missing 17-year-old who did not go home after day at college

A body has been found in the search for a missing teenager from Bury.

Matthew Young, 17, was last seen on Broad Street, in Bury town centre, at around 2.30pm on Wednesday.

Police said he failed to return home after attending college for the day and described it as being ‘out of character’.

A public appeal for help was issued earlier today as concerns grew for the teenager.

Officers searching for Matthew announced that they found a body last night.

Formal identification has not yet taken place.

Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Matthew was described as a white, 6ft tall male, of slim build with ginger hair and glasses.

He was last seen wearing a green jacket, dark jeans, black boots and was carrying a black rucksack.
