A British motorist has been busted by the French police for driving the wrong way down a motorway on New Year’s Eve after being turned away from the Spanish border.

The British motorist was refused entry to Spain because he did not have a valid COVID-19 test so he had decided to drive back to the UK.

The motorway was empty due to strict curfew and lockdown rules in France so it is possible he did not see any other vehicles and became confused about which side of the road to drive on.
