The family of a ‘beautiful’ grandmother paid tribute to her after she was stabbed to death and a man was charged with her murder.  

Marie Gladders, 51, died after being stabbed in George Road, Stockland Green, Birmingham, last Thursday.

Ms Gladders, from nearby Chelmsley Wood, was described as a ‘beautiful mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, partner and friend’ in a statement from her family.

A 52-year-old man was charged with Ms Gladders’ murder last Friday before appearing at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and then being held behind bars.

Ms Gladders’ family said: ‘We are beyond devastated and heartbroken over the tragic loss of our beautiful mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, partner and friend.

‘To lose her in such a cruel way is deeply saddening, and we pray that justice is served for her. We hope that she is at peace now.

‘Sleep tight mom until we meet you again, we love you to infinity! ‘

A post mortem examination concluded Ms Gladders had died of stab injuries.

Detective Inspector Stuart Mobberley, from the West Midlands Police homicide team, added: ‘My thoughts remain with Marie’s family who are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.’

Mark Masefield, 52, was charged with murder last Friday.

He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday and was remanded into custody.
