He’s had a hugely successful past 12 months which included touring with chart-topper Lewis Capaldi.

And now Australian singer Sam Fischer has celebrated a milestone achievement as his breakout single, This City, has surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify.

Documenting his reaction on Instagram, Sam, 28, said last week: ‘The emotional photographic journey of a man realising This City has hit 100 MILLION streams.’

‘That man is me, and I am forever grateful for all of you. Thank you so much,’ he added.

The Sydney-born songwriter turned into an overnight success after his song went viral on TikTok, earning over one billion views.

Since then, he has been making TV debut appearances around the world, amid the global pandemic, from his Los Angeles apartment.

Earlier this month, he appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden via video link.

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, Sam said: ‘In amidst the craziness of isolation and the adjustment to working from home, the love and support I’ve been receiving from all corners of the globe has been immense and overwhelming.’

‘Though making my TV debuts around the world from my apartment in the middle of a global pandemic wasn’t something I expected.’

‘I realise how lucky I am to still have opportunities like performing on The Late Late Show with James Corden and for that, I’m forever grateful,’ he later added. 

It comes as the 28-year-old singer told James Corden that his debut album is ‘ready’ and teased a Summer (Australian winter time) release date.

Sam kick-started his career writing songs for global superstars including Jessie J, Demi Lovato, Keith Urban and Louis Tomlinson.

Last month, he made headlines around the world when he made his US television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live from his bathroom.
