Two men are injured after ‘shooting and stabbing’ in East Grinstead as armed police hunt grey Fiat 500

Armed police and two air ambulances have been called to a suspected shooting and stabbing in Sussex this afternoon.

At least one stabbing and a shooting have been reported in East Grinstead to Sussex Police, with officers hunting a grey Fiat 500.

Several people are believed to have fled in the car after the shooting.  

Police confirmed two men had been injured, with one believed to be in a serious condition and airlifted to hospital.

David Matthews tweeted: ‘So someone has been shot just up the road from our flat. We live in East Grinstead. WTF is happening to this world!’

Paul Farrar tweeted: ‘There was a person down on the pavement outside the Kings Field about 14.00. Then saw ambulances and Police cars coming in to town.’ 

A spokesman for Sussex Police said ‘Police were called to Moat Road at 1.33pm on Tuesday (April 14).

‘Two men suffered injuries, the nature and the scale of which have not been fully established at this time, but are not currently thought to be life-threatening.

‘It is believed that that the incident is confined to a small group of people.

‘Anyone with information about the incident is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 645 of 14/04.’
