Andy Garcia, 63, takes a bike ride in Los Angeles during self-isolation… and encourages fans to exercise to boost their immunity

Actor Andy Garcia was spotted getting in some much needed exercise during a Sunday afternoon bike ride near his home in Los Angeles.

Later, he took to social media to extol the virtues of remembering to work out during this health crisis because it helps boost the immune system. 

The 63-year-old is currently under a shelter-in-place mandate in his west coast locale as the country tries to battle the rapid spread of novel coronavirus.

Cruising on his two-wheeler, the Godfather star looked fit and healthy as he rode through the neighborhood bundled up on a brisk day.

Garcia was bundled up in a charcoal sweater and blue sweat pants with a hat and scarf which he tucked into a blue quilted vest.

As the beaches, parks and hiking trails have been shut down in Los Angeles, due to COVID-19, walking on the street or biking are two of the few things left to safely cure cabin fever while maintaining social distancing. 

Later that day, the Ocean’s 11 star took to Instagram and encouraged fans to remember to exercise to boost their immunity.

Sharing a cute photo of a brightly colored green chameleon perched on the hat of his son Andres, Garcia dolled out some helpful advice. 

‘Make sure you exercise!Very important to stimulate the immune system,’ he penned. ‘#stayathome . Be well! Thank you Andres and Flo for the inspiration.’ 

A few days prior, Garcia was sending some well wishes to fellow actor Anthony Hopkins during self-quarantine. 

The 82-year-old actor had taken to social media to thank fans for their support as he gave an update after reaching day 10 of his voluntary isolation.

Looking cheerful in a sky blue shirt and dark trousers, the Silence of the Lambs star addressed the camera as he revealed what he’s been up to while remaining in his home.

He said: ‘Hello everyone, well thank you for your generous compliments and well-wishes. As you see I’m in self-quarantine, I’m 82 years of age I’ve found lots of things to do.’ 

Several fans of the star were quick to comment with messages of well-wishes, including Garcia who penned: ‘Be well Tony. Continue to inspire us.’

To which Anthony replied: ‘Thank you. My best to you and your family.’
