Alan Jones boosts his audience with Sky News show

He’s back! Alan Jones has significantly boosted his audience since joining Sky News after Ben Fordham took over his radio slot at 2GB

He stepped down from 2GB at the end of May after almost two decades at the conservative radio network.

But in a surprising turn of events, Alan Jones has gone on to become even more successful than ever before after launching his own nightly talk show on Sky News.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the 79-year-old is now reaching a bigger audience and gaining younger fans thanks to the power of television.

Bigger and better? Alan Jones is reaching a huge new audience at Sky News following his departure from 2GB radio in May

‘I always loved radio and always will because of its immediacy but my material now has an international reach which represents a whole new world and certainly isn’t Sydney-centric,’ he said.

‘I’ve received feedback from a member of the European Parliament and, in a segment that I did on the Nobel Peace Prize, Fox News in America, I understand, passed it on to the White House.’

Segments from his Sky News show have racked up millions of views on YouTube.

A video on the coronavirus pandemic stating that the virus is not in fact, a pandemic, has racked up 2.2 million views so far.

Another video from last week about Donald Trump potentially winning the U.S. election has one million views.

Meanwhile, things are still going well for Ben Fordham, who took over Jones’ job at 2GB after the elderly pundit exited the station.

Proving himself a formidable replacement for his predecessor, Fordham’s breakfast show won the AM breakfast slot with 17.3 per cent in the first survey since Jones’ departure in September – a number almost identical to Jones’ last survey results of 17.9 per cent.

2GB enjoyed a market-leading 14.2 per cent share overall, which is slightly down from 14.8 per cent in April.

Fordham had reportedly been under pressure to produce good ratings after critics claimed he was ‘too nice and relaxed’ to fill famously fiery Jones’ shoes.

However, the Channel Nine star previously told The Australian that he wasn’t trying to emulate Jones’ style, but rather ‘bring his own flavour of breakfast to the radio.’

‘My main focus is going to be what’s on the mind of people as they wake up in Sydney, and that needs to really drive my agenda every day,’ he told the publication in June.
