On her new career move, the former Strictly star said: ‘I’m still in training, I’m a qualified councillor on placement, which means I have my own little clients and go to a primary school in London.

‘I sit and council my little people. I start my masters in September to become a child psychologist in due course.’

Kate, who appeared on Strictly three years ago, recently told the Daily Mail that while juggling her job, homeschooling her two children and writing a book she ‘got to that point when you have no spare reserves’.

The mother-of-two said: ‘I got one of those rebounder trampolines. I was studying how toxic stress sits in the body so the jumping up and down helped. I turned 50 and I did mark that by saying I want to look as well as I can.

The TV star, who shares Clemency, nine, and Wilbur, six, with husband Mike Heron, recently completed a 50-lap swimming challenge to raise funds for Children In Need and Girlguiding.

The broadcaster enthused she felt ‘so much better’ since dropping weight, adding to Hello! magazine: ‘I was either going to put on two-and-a-half stone during lockdown or lose it, and I’ve lost it. It was a conscious decision and I knew I had to focus.

‘I bought myself a racer bike, a trampoline and some Tracy Anderson DVDs and I got a good nutritionist. I have been eating at specific times and trying to get more sleep.

‘I feel so much better in myself. I’m feeling as fit and well as I possibly can at this time of my life.

‘That’s all we can ever want – to feel our best self at whatever age we’re at and to be able to celebrate that.’

Kate had five years of failed IVF attempts after her and Mike began trying for a baby and had all but resigned herself to never having children when Clemency was conceived naturally two years after they married in 2010.
