Will Ferrell rounds up Kenan Thompson and Awkwafina in General Motors’ Super Bowl ad

Will Ferrell is sick and tired of Norway beating the United States in selling electric cars, and he’s doing something about it in General Motors’ Super Bowl ad.

The 53-year-old actor is showcased front and center of GM’s ad, promoting their new electric vehicle (EV) initiative.

After learning that Norway sells more EV’s that the United States, Ferrell rounds up fellow comedians Kenan Thompson and Awkwafina to help the cause.

The 90-second ad – an extended version from the 60-second spot that will run during the first quarter of the big game – begins with a bearded Ferrell dropping some EV knowledge.

‘Did you know that Norway sells way more electric cars per capita than the U.S.? Norway!’ Ferrell says with a laugh, before turning angry.

He grunts and punches through the globe, saying he, ‘won’t stand for it,’ though he cannot get the globe off of his fist.

The funnyman decided to let it go and hopped in his Cadillac, adding that, ‘With GM’s new Ultimum Battery, we’re gonna crush those lugers.’

He pulls up to Kenan Thompson’s house, who is dressed up like a pirate, as Ferrell tells him, ‘Kenan, Norway’s out-EV-ing us,’ before asking about his outfit.

‘Oh it’s my daughter’s birthday. She’s really into pirates,’ though Ferrell interrupts and adds, ‘I don’t care,’ asking him to ‘grab an EV and meet me in Norway,’ while denying him permission to say goodbye to his family.

Ferrell explains that GM’s Ultium Battery is, ‘made for all types of vehicles so soon everyone can drive an EV.’
