Westworld creators are working on adapting the best-selling video game franchise Fallout into a TV series

Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are set to develop a TV adaption of the massively successful Fallout franchise for Prime video.

With their upcoming Amazon project, Nolan and Joy will sprinkle ‘moments of ironic humor and B-movie-nuclear-fantasies’ to the ‘harsh tone’ of the best-selling game, which first came out in 1997.

‘Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time,’ Kilter Films’ Joy and Nolan told Deadline in a joint statement. ‘Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends.’

The pair added: ‘So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.’

The Westworld duo, who signed a overall deal for an estimated $150 million over five years at Amazon last April, will serve as executive producers on the series alongside Athena Wickham, Todd Howard and James Altman.

Howard expressed his eagerness for Nolan and Joy to take on the responsibility of bringing Fallout to screens, after working for ‘decades’ to find the best fit.

‘It was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right,’ he said. ‘We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited.’
