TV personality Ross Mathews debuts his impressive 50lb weight loss after reclaiming his health in June: ‘Work in progress’

TV personality Ross Mathews is showing off his impressive weight loss.

Shedding 50 pounds after climbing the scales, the 41-year-old correspondent and RuPaul’s Drag Race judge decided to ‘reclaim his health’ in June after his mother passed away.

Debuting his shrunken frame on Sunday, Mathews wrote that although he was a ‘work in progress,’ he was ’70lbs down’ from his all-time highest weight as he shared an Instagram photo.

Standing in a Manhattan high rise, Ross showed off his svelte physique in a pair of skinny jeans and a black wool coat that hugged his figure.

Looking nearly unrecognizable in the snap he penned an honest caption about his weight loss journey as he wrote:

‘Breaking the pattern. 50lbs down today from my height in early June when I decided to reclaim my health after my mom died (70lbs down from my all-time).’

‘I will always be a work in progress. I may mess up again. I dunno. All I know is that I’m very grateful. And very happy. On we go…,’ he shared.

Opening up about his diet after losing 50 pounds previously in 2017 – though he did not sustain it – Mathews credited making healthier choices and walking as they keys to his success.

Noticing the weight just fell off after making these adjustments he shared on a Good Day DC segment that he never felt deprived when it came to food.

‘I’m never hungry, I eat as much protein and vegetables as I want, string cheese, turkey, and carrots. So I never feel deprived, I am just not eating the Doritos,’ he said.

At the beginning of quarantine he frequently took to social media to share his ‘wellness tips,’ posting humorous videos of himself riding an exercise bike while eating burrito.

In one video he said that the best exercise was hauling a dumpster full of trash out front, as he told his followers to make sure to conceal all the pizza boxes and wine inside.

Losing his mom a few months later in May, Mathews experienced a level of devastation that put both life and health into perspective.

‘I can’t imagine a world without her. Will colors be less vibrant? Flavors dulled? Laughter muted? She was my audience of one, my head cheerleader, my VIP. And now she’s gone, taken before any of us were ready,’ he wrote.

Now starting a new chapter in his life with a lot less weight on his frame he likes to share what he dubs ‘Rossipes’ as he cooks health conscious yet delicious food.
