Triple J Breakfast’s Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett announce they are LEAVING the radio station after a year to ‘pursue other opportunities’

Triple j breakfast hosts Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett have announced they are leaving the radio station effective immediately.

The pair made the live announcement on-air on Tuesday morning and revealed they are keen to ‘pursue other opportunities’ following a year of service to the station.

An emotional Sally told listeners: ‘I’m so incredibly grateful to have spent the last four years as part of Australia’s biggest family of music lovers.’

Sally continued: ‘I’ve had so many pinch-myself moments, but the most amazing part of my time at triple j has been the audience. Triple j listeners never fail to make me cackle, warm my heart and inspire me.

‘I’ve loved waking up with you every morning. Thank you for everything. I can’t wait to show you what’s next!’

Her co-host Erica added: ‘The weird thing about listening to triple j is that it makes you feel like you have tens of thousands of friends.

‘That’s exactly how I’ve felt for the last four years, being lucky enough to hear from you.

‘Whether it’s just a song request on the text line, a call in to say hey, a story about your weekend or a dumb thing you did as a kid, I’ve loved every minute of the crazy, passionate energy that comes from the triple j audience.

Erica concluded: ‘Thank you for everything. It’s time for me to hang up the headphones for now and focus on other things, a little later in the day than 6 am. I’ll catch you very soon.’

The friends took over from Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton when they quit in October of last year.

They will be replaced by weekend presenter Bryce Mills until new hosts are confirmed for 2021.
