The debate started a day earlier when Ruth told viewers that her husband Eamonn Holmes had attempted to cook bacon in the microwave, but failed as the rashers were still soaked in fat.

The pair explained to viewers that Alison was going to demonstrate how to cook bacon in the microwave, cutting minutes off breakfast preparations across the nation.

During the segment, Alison told viewers that they could use a special plastic plate to lay out the rashers, and after just three minutes in the microwave they were delicious and crispy.

Eamonn was thrilled to see that his odd cooking methods were supported by Alison, but Ruth didn’t seem so convinced.
