This Morning descends into chaos in debate over the TOOTH FAIRY and EASTER BUNNY being ‘key workers’… as Phillip Schofield laughs at the ‘most bizarre row’ in his 18 years on the show

This Morning descended into chaos during a row over the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy being key workers on Tuesday.

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield spoke to Nick Ferrari and Vanessa Feltz about comments made by New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern about the characters ‘working on the frontline’ amid the coronavirus pandemic.

LBC host Nick, 61, appeared riled by the playful comments, which left the hosts in fits of giggles and resulted in Phillip branding the argument ‘the most bizarre’ in his 18 years of fronting the magazine show.

Ha! This Morning descended into chaos during a row over the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy being key workers on Tuesday

Discussion arose when Holly revealed that her daughter Belle, eight, had lost a tooth leading them to discussing Jacinda’s comments.

During a press conference on Monday, Jacinda said: ‘You’ll be pleased to know that we do consider both the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny to be essential workers…

‘As you can imagine, at this time they’re going to be potentially quite busy at home with their family as well and their own bunnies.’

Phillip said: ‘We’ve discussed this a number of times, that young people do get anxious and all Jacinda was doing was putting on a layer of reassurance that we want a bit of normality and life can be normal in that area.’

While the comments were clearly made in jest, Nick made an enraged outburst in the debate, saying: ‘Phillip my problem is the expression ‘front line workers”, before Phillip corrected him to say Jacinda said ‘essential workers’.

Nick continued: ‘When I stand and applaud every Thursday at 8pm [in reference to the Clap For Carers scheme] I’m not applauding the Easter Bunny, I’m applauding the doctors, the nurses, the anethasists and the ambulance drivers.

‘Of course I want the Easter Bunny to come this Sunday and of course I want the Tooth Fairy to come to Holly’s daughter but let’s not liken them to people who are putting their lives on the line every single day.’

Vanessa interjected: ‘I don’t think she meant it that way, I think she was injecting a bit of lighthearted humour which is needed at this time.’

After thanking the duo for their appearance, Phil then said: ‘In all my years, this is one of the most bizarre chats on this show I’ve ever had.’

Viewers were less than pleased with Nick’s lack of humour in the scenario, as fans swarmed Twitter to hit out at his views.

Social media users penned: ‘What an absolute roaster Nick Ferrari is, that was utterly ridiculous #ThisMorning #ToothFairy… @thismorning..

‘Nick Ferrari needs to calm down and get a sense of humour. It was just a bit of light-hearted fun for the kids in this time of complete uncertainty #EasterBunny’.
