This Morning descends into chaos as Spin To Win wheel BREAKS as Phillip Schofield is scolded by producers for climbing a ladder to fix it

This Morning descended into chaos on Thursday as the Spin To Win wheel broke down.

The wheel, in which hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield spin to win cash prizes for viewers, became stuck in the rafters in the studio, leaving the pair sitting on the sofa with no game to play.

However, when Philip, 58, attempted to climb a ladder to fix it, he was scolded by show bosses amid health and safety fears.

Explaining the drama at the beginning of the segment, Holly, 39, said: ‘So you know Spin To Win always goes wrong and every day we find a new way to go wrong.’

The camera then panned to the wheel which was stuck suspended above the studio, with Holly adding: ‘Well today, it’s gone for it big time.’

Philip then explained that the wheel would not budge despite them trying ‘very hard’ to get it to come down.

The presenter then resorted to climbing a step ladder in a bid to get it down, but was swiftly met the disapproval of the show’s editors due to ‘health and safety’ fears.

As he continued to ignore the show bosses, he yelled: ‘I’m being told I’m not allowed to go up the ladder.’

To which Holly responded: ‘What do you mean he’s not allowed to go up the ladder? He’s a fully grown man!’

As producers continued to urge Phil to get down, he snapped: ‘What do you mean “health and safety”? In the world we’re living in at the moment you’re worried about me going up a ladder!’

Following the ad break, a quick-thinking Holly came up with a way they can continue the game without using the wheel.

The mum-of-three tore up a page of her script and scribbled three cash prizes on it, before putting them into a cup that Phil retrieved from the kitchen.
