Nick Jonas blocked Kelly Clarkson from pursuing a singer who covered her hit song Miss Independent on Tuesday’s episode of The Voice.

The 27-year-old singer joined season 18 of the NBC singing competition show as a new coach and has quickly become a formidable competitor.

Nick and Kelly, 37, both turned their chairs for Arei Moon, 28, of Boston, as she performed the live version of Kelly’s song Miss Independent in the blind auditions.

‘I wrote the song,’ added Kelly.
