The Voice: Contestants have ‘little to NO access’ to their celebrity coaches

The Voice EXCLUSIVE: Contestants have ‘little to NO access’ to their celebrity coaches outside of the show

The celebrity coaches on The Voice promise to guide their contestants to stardom.

But the young stars on Channel Nine’s talent show allegedly have ‘little to no access’ to their mentors when the cameras aren’t rolling.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on the condition of anonymity, an eliminated singer from this year’s season claimed that all communication between the contestants and coaches is done via the producers.

The coaches on The Voice this year are Boy George, Kelly Rowland, Delta Goodrem and Guy Sebastian.

‘We had little to no access to the judges,’ the contestant said. ‘Everything was screened and it was up to the producers [to pass it on].’

The recently-ousted singer further claimed that the contestants were not given any direct telephone numbers or email addresses for their mentors.

Instead of one-to-one meetings with their mentors, the singers allegedly had to discuss their song choices and personal troubles with producers.

These conversations were then relayed to the coaches, the contestant claimed, and key points were brought up in their recorded ‘mentoring’ sessions.

During taping of the Knockouts and Battle rounds, the singers were reportedly given just 45 minutes with the coaches for a group catch-up.

According to the source, the singers then posed for publicity photos with the coaches, before being separated by staff and whisked off to separate rooms.

Mongolian throat singer Bukhu Ganburged confirmed these claims after he was sent home from the competition last month.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Bukhu revealed he did not get a chance to speak to his coach, Guy Sebastian, after his elimination.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine and ITV for comment.
